10 mindful morning habits That Will Start Your Day Right

This post is all about mindful morning habits that will start your day right.

As an entrepreneur, you know that time is money.

If you are late for a meeting, it can set you back hours, days, or even weeks. If you are delayed on a project, you will pay thousands if not millions in lost revenue.

This is why you need to give yourself every advantage you can get. If you have a productive day, you can get so much more done in a day that you will save time and money.

Here are 10 mindful morning habits that you can use to set the mood for a productive and successful day.

Let’s start!

Mindful morning habits

Every day we get the same 24 hours to work with and we need to make the most of it. A productive day starts with a productive morning and we can do this by following some simple but important mindful morning habits.

Don’t snooze your alarm clock

When you hear your alarm clock in the morning, it can be tempting to hit the snooze button and drift back off to sleep.

However, doing this can actually make it harder to wake up and start your day. When you snooze your alarm, you’re essentially telling your body that it’s not time to wake up yet.

This can make it harder to get out of bed when the alarm goes off again. If you find yourself struggling to wake up in the morning, try setting your alarm for a time when you know you’ll be able to get out of bed right away.

You may also want to try placing your alarm clock across the room so that you have to get out of bed to turn it off.

Eat a healthy breakfast

It’s no secret that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. After all, it’s the meal that jump-starts your metabolism and gives you the energy you need to power through your day.

The food we eat is what fuels our bodies. The better quality the fuel we feed our bodies is, the better it will work and perform.

Making a healthy breakfast a part of your daily routine can help you start your day off on the right foot and make healthy eating easier.

Your day starts the night before

I know it may sound contradicting, but if you really want to set yourself up for success and have a productive morning then you need to start your day the night before.

Let’s see two simple ways of doing this:

Create an ideal image of your perfect productive day before you go to sleep

Before you go to bed each night I want you to try this little visualization exercise.

Right before you fall asleep, take a few minutes to visualize your perfect productive day.

See yourself waking up early, feeling refreshed and full of energy. How you start your day with a healthy breakfast and then get straight to work on your most important projects. You stay focused and concentrated throughout the day, taking regular breaks to stretch and move around. And how you finally finish your work by early afternoon and then enjoy the rest of the day doing things you love, like spending time with your family, reading, or going for a run. You go to bed feeling satisfied with a day well spent.

Write your to-do list + goals for the day

There’s something about writing out a to-do list the night before that just makes the next day feel more manageable.

Maybe it’s the act of physically putting pen to paper (or finger to keyboard) that makes the tasks feel more real and actionable.

Or maybe it’s the sense of accomplishment that comes with knowing you’ve already tackled some of your tasks before you’ve even started your day.

Whatever the reason, there’s no denying that writing a to-do list the night before can be a helpful way to start your day off on the right foot. Plus, it can help you to sleep better, knowing that you’ve got a plan in place for the next day.

So if you’re looking for a way to increase your productivity and ease your anxiety, give this method a try.

Of course, not every to-do list is created equal. For maximum efficiency, your to-do list should be specific, realistic, and actionable.

In other words, each item on your list should be something you can actually accomplish in a day, and each task should be broken down into concrete steps.

By taking the time to create a well-crafted to-do list, you’re setting yourself up for a productive and successful day.

Get important tasks done first thing in the morning

Getting important tasks done first thing in the morning can set you up for a successful day.

You’ll be more productive and less likely to procrastinate if you start your day by tackling the most important items on your to-do list.

Plus, getting important tasks out of the way first thing in the morning can give you a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction that will carry you through the rest of the day.

So if you’re looking to be more productive, start your day by getting the most important tasks done first.

Now, everyone has different schedules and priorities, so it’s important to figure out what works best for you.

For some people, getting important tasks done first thing in the morning may not be possible or may not be the most effective way to work.

However, if you find that it works well for you, it can be a great way to start your morning.

Of course, not every task is going to be equally important, so you’ll need to prioritize.

Start by making a list of the things you need to do, and then order them by importance.

Once you’ve done that, try to get the most important task done first thing in the morning, before you do anything else.

That way, you’ll start your day off on the right foot and be more likely to stay on track throughout the day.

To help you prioritize your tasks here is a little exercise:

It basically consists of a chart where you categorize each thing on your to-do list based on its importance and urgency.

Morning routine for entrepreneurs

Do one task at a time

Did you know that only 2% of the population can productively multitask?

Now, when you read that I bet you thought you were part of that 2%.

But however good we want to think about ourselves, the truth is we are probably not part of that 2%.

That´s why it´s better to focus on one task at a time and see it through to completion before moving on to the next task.

This will help ensure that all tasks are given the attention they deserve and that nothing is left unfinished. When we try to accomplish too many things at once, we often end up feeling overwhelmed and stressed.

This can lead to poor decision-making and a lack of focus.

So, next time you have a to-do list a mile long, take a deep breath and start with just one task.

You’ll be surprised at how much you can get done when you focus on one thing at a time.

Stay off your phone for the first 30 min.

Checking out our phones first thing in the morning. A very simple habit we have developed quite quickly.

But what consequence does this habit have in our lives?

I remember one day listening to an episode of the On Purpose podcast by Jay Shetty (highly recommend checking it out of you haven’t already) which was specifically talking about the habit of checking your phone first thing in the morning and he said something that really struck me:

“Would you let 100 people in your room first thing in the morning? Because that is exactly what we are doing when go to our phone and open Instagram or Facebook”

So, when you wake up in the morning, resist the urge to pick up your phone and check social media, email, or any other notifications.

Instead, take some time for yourself to wake up fully, stretch, and maybe even meditate or do some light exercise.

Once you’ve taken some time for yourself, then you can start your day by checking your phone.

This simple act of putting your phone away for the first 30 minutes of the morning can help you feel calmer and focused for the rest of the day.

Get enough quality sleep

The 9th mindful morning habit is to get enough quality sleep because, honestly, there’s nothing quite like starting the day off with a good night’s sleep.

Not only does it feel great to wake up rested and refreshed, but it also sets you up for a successful day.

However, sleep is often one of the first things to suffer when we get busy or stressed. But skimping on sleep can have serious consequences for our health, mood, and productivity.

If you’re not getting enough sleep, you may find yourself feeling groggy and unfocused.

Now, there are a few things we can do to help ensure we get a good night’s sleep.

First, we should create a relaxing bedtime routine. This might include taking a warm bath, reading a book, or writing in a journal.

Doing these things can help our bodies and minds wind down so we’re more likely to fall asleep.

We should also avoid working or using electronic devices in bed. The light from these devices can stimulate our brains and make it harder to fall asleep. Instead, we should use our beds for sleep and relaxation.

Finally, we should make sure our bedrooms are dark, quiet, and cool. This can help our bodies reach the ideal sleep temperature, which is around 65 degrees Fahrenheit.

By following these tips, we can get the quality sleep we need to start the morning right.

Getting enough sleep is vital for your physical and mental health, so make it a priority to get seven to eight hours of quality sleep each night.

Wake up with a smile on your face

Smiling is one of the easiest ways to improve your mood. When you smile, your brain releases endorphins that make you feel happier.

So even if you don’t feel like it, forcing yourself to smile first thing after you wake up can help you start your day on a positive note.

In addition to making you feel better, smiling is also contagious. When you smile at someone, they are likely to smile back.

This can create a positive feedback loop that makes both you and the other person feel happier. So not only can smiling improve your own mood, but it can also brighten someone else’s day.

So next time you wake up, don’t forget to smile. It might just be the best way to start your day.

Set intentions by using affirmations and mantras

If you’re not feeling particularly motivated, it can be helpful to set intentions using affirmations and mantras.

By focusing on positive statements about what you want to achieve, you can help to shift your mindset and increase your motivation.

For example, you might say to yourself, “I am confident and capable of achieving my goals.”

Repeating this affirmation regularly can help you to believe it and feel more motivated to take action.

In addition to this, you can choose a mantra such as “I can do this” or “I am strong”. Select something that resonates with you and repeat it often, both to yourself and out loud.

Doing so can help to increase your determination and remind you of your ability to succeed. Thus setting yourself up for success first thing in the morning.
