It’s a sunday morning. Outside fall tiny little droplets of rain and when you open the window there is a scent of freshness and earthiness in the air.

You light a candle, sit on the couch with a cup of hot tea, and think about how you have the entire sunday to yourself and how you want to spend it.

Well, what better way to spend it than with a little self care?

Personally autumn and winter feel like the best time to dedicate time to yourself in the most cozy and productive way.

(bet you didn’t think you’ll read those two words in the same sentence huh?)

Well, you just did. And yes that actually exists. But you know what else does? The most perfect self care rituals.

And that’s exactly what this post is about! So get ready to discover these 22 great self care rituals to nourish your mind, body, and soul this autumn and enjoy yourself!

P.D. It’s okay if you don’t have the entire day to yourself because in this post you find all types of self care ideas from 10 min to even half an hour ones; from self love activities to reflecting prompts. So buckle up and let’s begin!

self care rituals

Why is self care important?

In this fast-paced and demanding world, it’s important to prioritize our own well-being.

So no self-care is not a luxury, but a necessity for having a fulfilling life. It is the act of deliberately taking care of our physical, emotional, and mental needs.

Self-care rituals and activities have a huge role in our lives. Because by making ourselves a priority, we can boost our self-love, improve our self-esteem, and help us reconnect with ourselves on a deeper level.

Plus taking the time to practice self-care not only improves our mental health but also reduces stress and anxiety. It helps us to recharge and reset, allowing us to face life’s challenges with strength and clarity.

Another of the things I love about self care is how by taking care of yourself first, you can create space within you to give love and care to others as well. “You can’t pour into other’s cups if yours is empty”.

22 Best Self care Rituals for autumn

  1. Enjoy a Warm Beverage: Sip on hot tea, cocoa, or a pumpkin spice latte to stay cozy.
  2. Candlelit Baths: Relax in a warm bath with scented candles and soothing music.
  3. Hygge at Home: Create a cozy atmosphere with blankets, soft lighting, and your favorite book or movie.
  4. Practice Gratitude: Start a gratitude journal to reflect on the things you’re thankful for. Here are the 8 best journals you need for your gratitude practice
  5. Autumn Crafts: Have a try with seasonal crafts like making wreaths, carving pumpkins, or painting leaves, or have your try with foam art.
  6. Treat yourself to your comfort foods: Cook or bake your favorite comfort foods and savor the flavors of autumn (now you have an excuse to put all the cinnamon and chocolate chips you want in your recipes :))
  7. Yoga and Stretching: Stretch your body with some yoga or simple stretching exercises to keep your body limber.
  8. Digital Detox: Take a break from all social media for at least 24 to reduce stress, let your mind rest, and be present in the moment
  9. Take a stroll through the local farmer’s market and enjoy the crisp autumn weather while discovering fresh produce and yummy treats.
  10. Self-Care Book Club: Start a book club focused on self-care and well-being literature.
  11. Warm Up by the Fireplace: If you have a fireplace, cozy up with a good book or conversation. If you don’t have one you can go to a cafe that has one and enjoy a good coffee as well.
  12. DIY Spa Day: Create a spa experience at home with facials, manicures, and pedicures. Personally, this is one of my sisters and my favorite self care ritual
  13. Pumpkin Decorating: Get creative by decorating pumpkins with paint, glitter, or other materials.
  14. Decorate your home with fall decorations. Tree branches, pumpkins, candles, blankets the possibilities are endless
  15. Binge-watch Halloween movies.
  16. Write yourself a love letter. What would you say to your New Year’s Eve self? Write it down in a letter and reopen it on the 1st of January!
  17. Get a weighted blanket: I have to say I didn’t know these existed up until recently. But ever since I tried them I’m obsessed. It takes the whole laying on the couch watching movies experience to a whole other level
  18. Start your season rewatch of your favorite movies and series: Gilmore Girls, Gossip Girl, Twilight, Dead Poets Society, Little Woman… I don’t what it is about these movies but Fall just makes me want to rewatch them all. I mean a complete Harry Potter marathon who?
  19. Cozy Reading Time: What better than curling up with a good book and a warm blanket, sipping on a cup of tea or hot cocoa?
  20. Change your wardrobe! Yes girl, it’s time to get your cute and cozy sweaters out of the box! Embrace the season by updating your wardrobe with soft, warm sweaters, scarves, and cozy socks to keep yourself comfortable and embody the fashion
  21. Do some journaling to unwind and reset your mind. Here are some journal prompts to inspire you:
    • What is the best way to spend a rainy day?
    • What’s your favorite Kind of weather?
    • Films to watch during autumn time?
    • Five favorite things about autumn?
    • What’s your most treasured possession?
    • What’s one of your favorite memories from autums?
    • What’s on your autumn bucket list?
    • What are some songs that remind you of autumn?
    • What’s your favorite drink during the cold weather?
  22. Nature-Inspired Art: Take your art supplies outdoors and create nature-inspired art. Collect colorful leaves, acorns, or pinecones to use in your artwork, or simply sit in a park and paint what you see.

Final thoughts

In conclusion, practicing self-care rituals during autumn is an essential way to nourish your mind, body, and soul. These rituals not only provide a much-needed break from our busy lives but also allow us to prioritize our well-being and prioritize self-love

From taking long walks in nature to cozying up with a good book by the fireplace, or binge-watching your favorite shows, these practices not only help us reconnect with ourselves but also remind us of the importance of slowing down

Now self-care is about doing what makes you feel happy, relaxed, and rejuvenated, so feel free to adapt these ideas to your personal preferences and needs.

Remember, self-care is not selfish; it is necessary for maintaining a healthy balance in life. So let this autumn be a season of self-discovery, healing, and embracing moments that nourish your mind, body, and soul.

And finally, prioritize yourself because you deserve it!
