Before we start with these 65 health and wellness ideas to take care of yourself, I want to go over the definition of self care and what it actually means the concept of wellness.

Self care is an activity that you do to take better care of your overall well-being.

It seems like a simple, basic concept and it is. But it’s one that we ignore too often and a part of our lives we neglect.

The bottom line is self care is essential

Not only for your health and well-being but for your productivity as well.

Self care is also a great way to improve and deepen your relationship with yourself.

But it’s important to remember that self care looks different for everyone. And in fact, you might even be practicing now without realizing.

Personally, my favorite ways to practice self care is by drawing, making sure I move my body every day, and having my weekly skincare+music session.

These types of activities help me to connect with my inner self, disconnect and be in the present moments while I recharge my batteries.

Now self care doesn’t have to feel like a chore, be expensive or take up a lot of your time.

Choose activities you are comfortable with, experiment with them, and change them up from time to time.

Another important thing to know about wellness and self care is it’s 8 dimensions. Learning about these will help you better understand what is self care, how to practice it, and where to start!

Here is an overview of the 8 wellness dimensions:

  • Physical dimension. Refers to the things you do to take care of your body and boost energy levels.
  • Emotional dimension. Emotional self care ideas can help you to cope with your feelings better and improve self-acceptance
  • Intellectual/Mental dimension. Intellectual self care can help to stimulate the mind and improve brain functionality
  • Social dimension. Social self care helps you to feel loved and less alone as well as improve communication skills
  • Spiritual dimension. These self care ideas help you to find a deeper purpose and more meaning in your life.
  • Environmental dimension. These self care ideas help you find and create the right environment so that you can thrive.
  • Career dimension.
  • Financial dimension. Financial self care allows you to cultivate a healthy relationship with money so that you can use it as a tool to achieve your dreams.

Now that you know the 8 dimensions of wellness it’s time to check out these 67 health and wellness ideas to become the best version of yourself!

Physical Wellness Ideas

#1 Find something you like doing and adopt it as a daily workout

#2 Do your best to spend as much time in nature as possible

#3 Add more color to your plate

#4 Book a massage

#5 Use the stair instead of the elevator

#6 Have fun with food. Find new recipes, try new ways to cook vegetables, greens, and things you might not love right now

#7 Keep up with your yearly wellness checkup

#8 Get serious about your sleep schedule and rest for at least seven hours every night

#9 Go on a walk as you listen to your favorite podcast (here are some of the best self-improvement podcasts!)

#10 Take a long warm bath with your favorite playlist in the background

#11 Drink. Water. Now.

#12 Stretch

#13 Allow yourself to sleep in (and say goodbye to the guilt)

Emotional self care ideas

#1 Make a list of healthy ways to cope with stress (i.e. going for a walk, baking, reading a book, taking a hot bath, gardening, journaling…)

#2 Do a monthly assessment about how you feel (these journal prompts can help)

#3 Create dance parties just for yourself. Don’t take everything so seriously!

#4 Create a playlist with your favorite happy songs and refer to them every time you need a quick mood boost

#5 Invest time in confidence-building activities

#6 Choose a daily affirmation to keep in mind (here are some of my favorites!)

#7 Share your feelings with someone you really trust

#8 Cuddle your pets if you have them.

#9 Write yourself a love note or reminder for the day/ week.

Intellectual wellness ideas

#1 Keep a gratitude journal (here you will find the 10 best gratitude journals and how to know which one is best for you)

#2 Exercise your brain by doing crosswords or sudokus

#3 Start coloring. I’m a huge lover of adult coloring books. They are a great (little) hobby to keep your mind occupied whenever you feel stressed, anxious or just to keep yourself in the present moment. Here is my personal favorite if you want to try this wellness idea!

#4 Take a class on a subject you are interested in, just for fun (drawing, cooking, sewing, dancing…)

#5 Learn small daily healthy habits to build into your lifestyle

#6 Create a Pinterest board with your favorite motivational quotes and refer to them every time you need a little motivation boost

#7 Add personal development activities into your routine

#8 Start your own garden and have fun with it

#9 Do a brain dump. Simply take a piece of paper and write down everything that’s going through your mind. It could be your to-do list, grocery shopping list, how you are feeling, etc.

#10 Listen to an audiobook. Books will always be my favorite personal growth tool. But we don’t always have the time to actually read them. Aand that’s where audiobooks come in!

They are perfect for that ride home in the car or the bus, to listen during your hot girl walks, while you are cooking, or simply while you are lying in bed.

You have no excuse now, girl. It’s time to finally complete your TBR (to be read) list with audiobooks. Here are a couple of my favorites if you don’t know where to start:

Social wellness activity ideas

#1 When you feel something is off with someone, ask them about it

#2 Have screen-free family nights (or even days)

#3 Meet a friend for coffee

#4 Volunteer to a cause you believe in

#5 Have fun and long conversations with your family around the table, no screens

#6 Host a girl’s night in with your closest friends

#7 Messaging a friend to tell them why you are grateful for them

#8 Hanging out with a friend with zero distractions (yes, put the phone away)

Spiritual health and wellness ideas

#1 Start your day thinking about 3 things you are grateful for

#2 Start meditating at least 2 minutes a day. (A simple way to start is closing your eyes and doing the simple exercise of a deep breath in, counting 4 seconds. Then hold it for another 4 seconds and let it out, also counting 4 seconds).

#3 Focus on the present moment

#4 Unfollow people who make you feel bad about yourself on social media

#5 Start a morning routine

#6 Be clear about what are your core values

#7 Practice sacred rituals that align with your beliefs

#8 Spend time alone in prayer, meditation, or self-reflection overall

#9 Create mindful moments. You don’t need to be an expert or have extensive practice to feel mindful. You can simply sit straight up (or cross your legs). Then close your eyes and move through each of your senses, noticing what you hear, feel, see, taste, and smell. Tapping into your senses is a great way to ground yourself in your body and the present moment.

Environmental wellness dimension ideas

#1 Keep your space tidy and clean with a quick daily clean-up (something as simple as whipping the bathroom sink and kitchen counters before going to bed can go a long way)

#2 Limit your consumption of news; too much can be toxic

#3 Heading to a coffee shop to work for the day

#4 Making your bed every morning

#5 Solo travel to a new place, even if it’s a new city nearby

#6 Create a nighttime routine to unwind and relax

Career dimension ideas

#1 Create goals and an execution plan for your professional life

#2 Go to workshops related to your job

#3 Give your workspace a little makeover

#4 Set healthy boundaries in your workspace. One of the most common reasons we end up burned out is because we don’t draw the line between work and life. We let it eclipse the rest of our lives without leaving space for any other priority. That is why setting healthy boundaries at work (and respecting them) is so important.

In this article, you’ll find a complete beginner’s guide on how to set healthy boundaries in your life!

#5 Celebrate even your smallest victories. You don’t need a big reason to celebrate your hard work and the effort you are putting in every day. Sometimes we get so caught up in the big goals that we forget to acknowledge the small accomplishments that prove we are growing and making progress. So from now on, I want you to celebrate the small things in your career or biz. Treat yourself to a gift or some flowers, have a nice dinner, drink a glass of champagne, and give yourself the recognition you deserve!

#6 Dress for success. The truth is that when we feel good on the outside, it translates to our inside (and vice versa). So for this wellness idea what I want you to do is go to work dressed like the highest version of yourself. The goal here is to put effort into your appearance and boost your self esteem and self belief (even if you work from home)!

Financial ideas for wellness activities

#1 Plan and start a monthly/weekly budget and stick to it

#2 Create a monthly or yearly financial goal with your savings

#3 Create a money spreadsheet (or use a money management app) to keep track of your finances. Make sure to complete this every month so that you can understand better your relationship with money.

#4 Think about a financial area you would like to improve and learn more about it (i.e. how to invest, you to spend less money, how to save…)

#5 Research about types of investments and what can work best for you

#6 Set the goal to read x personal finances books by the end of the year. You are a badass at making money by Jen Sincero is a great one to start with! This book has served as a wake-up call and has empowered me to move forward and refocus on my objectives (personal, financial, biz, etc). I truly believe it’s a must reading for any personal development lover that wants to boost their inner power!

#7 Practice money journaling to heal your relationship with money (here you will 36 create money journal prompts to jumpstart your finance journey!)

Final thoughts

Self care might seem like a difficult, inconvenient (even selfish) thing to do. But that doesn’t take away from how important it is to find these little activities that help you connect with yourself while taking care of your health.

Keep it simple and focus on your needs first. Learn how to listen and recognize them (i.e. when your body or mind needs a rest, when to push yourself to be better, listening to your emotions, etc.)

And finally remember to choose self-care activities you enjoy.

I think the key is to always do more of what makes you happy. So spend the time building a self-care routine that works for you and that you look forward to.

That was all for today my friend!

Thank you so much for investing your time in this article and I hope the tools and tips in it will help you take care of yourself and become your highest version!
